Under state law in California you must successfully take your food handler training and get your food safety card within the first month of employment. California law says that any food handler that was hired before June 1, 2011 will be required to obtain a food handler certificate by July 1, 2011. Food handlers hired after June 1, 2011 will be required to get their California food handlers card within 1 month of the date hired.
